An Artistic Journey
Rooted in the rich and colorful history of Ogden’s historic 25th Street, The Painted Lady is a creative gathering space that honors the past while reimagining its meaning for today. Once known for its lively, rebellious spirit, this district has long been a place where art, culture, and individuality intersect. We embrace that legacy—not for its notoriety, but for its boldness, resilience, and sense of freedom.
At The Painted Lady, we reclaim the name as a symbol of empowerment, creativity, and women-led entrepreneurship. Our space celebrates artists, makers, and dreamers of all backgrounds, with a special emphasis on uplifting women in the arts and business.
More than a café, we are a studio, a classroom, and a community hub. Here, you can sip, create, and connect—whether you’re experimenting with a new medium, attending a workshop, or simply soaking in the inspiration around you. We believe art should be approachable, joyful, and shared.
The Painted Lady is where history meets creativity, and where every brushstroke tells a story.

Lyssa Shurtleff
Founder and Art Educator
I have been teaching art for over 20 years and creating art for as long as I can remember. I studied art at Brigham Young University, Colorado State University, and Western Washington University, where I earned my BA in Fine Arts and Art Education. I have taught art in communities around the world. Nature is a constant source of inspiration for me, and I’m an avid hiker, biker, and explorer.
My husband is an Ogden native, and I quickly fell in love with Historic 25th Street after we moved here. I’m thrilled to bring a creative third space to the vibrant downtown Ogden community. My hope is to cultivate a place where people can slow down, reconnect with their creativity, and build meaningful connections with those around them.
